Biography

Thomas “Quin” Throckmorton is Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of Tennessee-Campbell Clinic in Memphis, TN, having formerly served as residency program director. He received his BA from Vanderbilt University, his medical degree from the University of Iowa and trained in orthopaedic surgery at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. He then completed a fellowship in shoulder and elbow surgery at the Mayo Clinic.

Dr. Throckmorton has served on the Board of Directors for the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS), the American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons Foundation, and the Mid-American Orthopaedic Association. He was also chairman of the AAOS Central Instructional Course Lectures (ICL) Committee, editor of ICL Volume 65, and a member of the AAOS Annual Meeting Committee. He currently serves as the editor-in-chief of OrthoInfo, the AAOS’ patient education program and as an editor for Campbell’s Operative Orthopaedics. He has completed the ASES Traveling Exchange Fellowship and is a graduate of the AAOS Leadership Fellows Program. He was also the 2016 and 2023 recipient of the Charles S. Neer Award for shoulder research by the ASES.
